Most people struggle with the concept of what it truly means to be meek The dictionary lists it's synonyms as tame, mild, bland, docile and weak Certainly not attributes that would make you attractive to those you meet Those who would not in their wildest dreams consider turning the other cheek
The bible: however, describes meekness as a virtue, a completely different spin A fruit of the spirit which Jesus had in it's fullness that was fully resident in Him If we but emulated His kind of meekness the world wouldn't be in the trouble it's in Nor would we through the emotion of anger be as susceptible to it's call to sin
Over the generations this Godly attribute has been bred out of us: so, we can compete And been replaced with false humility which before God is a subtle form of deceit Saying one thing to others while doing another that's why most of our talk is cheap Making us the slaves to our fleshly desires that births a love in us that's only skin deep
For without meekness not only our bodies but our emotion become hard to discipline Seeing all from our point of view, we tend to discount all else that to it is not akin Causing us to rush into battle armed with only pride that none of us on our own can win A step above leaving home without our credit card and personal ID number, our pin
Biblical meekness is then best defined in an heavenly sense as power in control Not motivated by raging anger that we can't control that overpowers both spirit and soul Guided by the light of meekness' beacon: so, we don't run aground on anger's shoals Yet able to stand our ground, filled with courage, in the face of evil, to be absolutely bold
And if this wasn't enough, Jesus tells us that only the meek will inherit the earth Those who will share in His inheritance, by cosmic standards a treasure of great worth Available to all who acknowledge Him as Lord and Savior: thus, granting us new birth As we humbly submit to His call, laying all else aside: thus, then able to put Him first
Inheriting a restored earth, a new Eden, where God has crushed the devil under His feet An open invitation from heaven where all the meek will be assigned some of the best seats Celebrating with Jesus, our groom and we His bride, ready to sit down at the wedding feast Unhindered by former earthly burdens at rest in His arms where we'll find eternal peace.
