On 3/31/2008 at 7:59 AM, through heaven’s main gate God sent one of His littlest angels to earth A lovely little girl weighing 7 lbs 13 ounces to bring an added touch of beauty to this universe The latest addition to the growing Thomas family to whom our daughter, Norah, has given birth A bundle of joy, rocked in her parent’s arms, the question is who saw their daughter smile first
Her father, Russ, was awestruck as he held this fragile gift from above firmly in his strong hands So fragile, a tiny trusting babe, secure in his embrace, a love bond that only a parent understands As well Her heavenly Father who was already busy on this child’s behalf making the right plans While overhead unseen by her parents, a double rainbow, one of God’s congratulatory telegrams
Appearing over St. Mary’s Hospital, as the sun’s fading rays pierced the mist left after the rain Her parents were preoccupied, going through the baby book searching for a perfect girl’s name From A-Z, they raced speaking each aloud in front of their daughter, most were just to darn plain God stirred their hearts with a whisper from Him and in but a moment the inspiration for it came
Looking into this baby’s slate blue eyes, full head of radiant red hair and petite, dimpled chin They named her Mia, the gift, followed by Robin, Russ’s younger brother as a tribute to him Just then Mia Robin Thomas was recorded in heaven and in the Lamb’s book of life written in And little Mia raised her tiny hands heavenward to thank God in whose presence she had been
She was the last one to see God’s face, feel His embrace, before she made the long journey here To meet her parents and big brother Thurston who over the years will become a formidable pair Together with her cousins, Hona and Matthias, it’s hard to imagine the good times they’ll share It’s what we as grandparents longed for, our children to have families, an answer to our prayer
So, always remember Russ and Norah, God has blessed you, even given you a rainbow as a sign Both at Mia’s birth and Thurston’s when you were in labor, God has favored you a second time It gives you pause to wonder if God does not have something extra special for these two in mind Which God will show them both in the future, by revealing to them their part in His grand design
Now my prayer is that your children will be more than a blessing to you and Russ over the year Kids that love you, listen, want to be in your company, able to help you with burdens and cares Perhaps I’ll be able to teach them to drive a standard; so, they learn how not to strip the gears We will be there both in the good times and bad, to laugh with them as well as dry their tears!
