Science has discovered buried deep within our DNA what they call the God gene 

A catalyst which helps us hold fast to beliefs that can’t with the human eye be seen   

Fostered by hope that fuels a faith that lets us reach far beyond our temporal dreams                       

Allowing us to catch a fleeting glimpse of spiritual things that exist behind the scenes

It transcends the temporal, our reality, and lifts us into a timeless ever expanding plane                   

Where science has yet to tread because it’s unable anything that’s not natural to explain                 

So are spirits are renamed by them a God gene, not honoring to Him who over all reigns                

Our Father in heaven, accept no substitutes, they’ll only confuse you with spurious claims

The very reason thousands of religions exist mudding the waters of God’s life giving stream         

Corrupting the substance of things hoped for thus veiling the evidence of the nearby unseen          

Maybe angels or the devil, whose still angry about being kicked off the heaven’s home team          

The same malevolent being that since time began has led us astray via his wiles and schemes      

God saw this coming and sent His only son, Jesus; so, we’d have no right to bitterly complain       

Without the intervention of Jesus to tip the scales, everything would have remained the same        

 Empowering us with the living word made flesh, Jesus, who beat the devil at his own game           

All we need to keep the devil at bay is to utter the name of Jesus, it goes against his grain  

A name that cuts through the gossamer veil of religions that offers with God no relationships       

Who calls us to be a family by adoption by serving Him with our hearts not solely our lips             

Before we sink into darkness we with this spiritual failing must ultimately come to grips               

Lest the devil continue to slow us down at every turn by giving us ever increasing fits 

This so called God gene is also the source of true faith which gives our spirits real ears                  

Enabling us the voice the good Sheppard over the world’s static to again seek and hear                    

Words of life spoken in love to overcome the devil’s inheritance for us which is fear                      

The choice is ours to listen to the King of Kings, Jesus, or the devil, prince of the air  

Now the devil’s tried his best to eliminate this “gene” from the DNA of mankind                           

He’s tried to make us his pawns by employing every means of darkness he can find                        

The devil more than any fallen spiritual being realizes the jig is up, he’s out of time 

Jesus having won the battle so we might be grafted in as branches to Him, the living vine!
